Hello everyone! Thank you for your support so far for That Hard Hat Girl. You are used to blog posts from Angela, but we wanted to use today’s blog to introduce you all to me, one of the many people behind the scenes at THHG, and the editor of the blog.
There are many ways I would describe myself.
Angela has written in her blog posts about how her being That Hard Hat Girl is a conversation starter. It is empowering. It helps her make new connections.
For me, being a hardhat girl, is different from being That Hard Hat Girl, because it is a part of my daily job. I am required to wear a hardhat as part of my personal protective equipment, and being a hardhat girl at a power plant brings forward a set of challenges.
Sometimes at a power plant, and I am assuming most industrial sites, it is hard to be taken seriously as a hardhat girl. Visitors to site often ask, “Are you the safety representative?” People looking for the shift supervisor will assume it is anyone in the room but me. It is a struggle for all of us hardhat girls killing it in the industrial world.
I love watching Angela’s journey as That Hard Hat Girl and seeing all she is achieving. I love seeing all the positive input she gets from people she meets while wearing her hardhat- people who think she is going to go on to do great things. I know I will continue to see positive responses to That Hard Hat Girl. It will be a step forward for That Hard Hat Girl, but also for hardhat girls everywhere as we move forward both making connections and making our mark on the industrial world. Hardhat girls are a force to be reckoned with.
Thanks for reading! As always, comments are welcome, and visit next week for a new blog post on Monday!
